The last air filter your car needs

A paper element starts choking the day you fit it. By the end of a service interval it is doing its job badly, and the only fix is to buy another one. Oiled cotton filters solve the disposable problem and create a new one: a cleaner and oil kit you have to buy, a re-oiling process you have to get right, and a filter most owners quietly stop servicing after the second time.

The Schorl element washes with detergent and water. No kit, no consumable, nothing to replace for up to 1,00,000 km.

How you clean it

Every 10,000 km, or sooner after dusty or off-road running. Soak the element in water with a mild cloth-washing detergent for about half an hour. Rinse under a running tap until the water runs clear. Shake off the excess and leave it to dry completely overnight, then refit into the factory airbox in the morning. Wash it in the evening and you lose no driving time.

Across 1,00,000 km that is ten washes and one filter. Nothing to buy in between.

The media

Schorl uses one filter media specification across the entire range, from motorcycles to commercial vehicles, so we validated it where the demands are highest. Tested independently at the Central Institute of Road Transport, Pune, in a commercial vehicle element flowing 11.3 m³/min against ISO 12103-1 A4 coarse test dust, it recorded 99.2% full-life filtration efficiency and stayed above 98% at every stage of the loading cycle, up to a terminating differential pressure of 625 mm of water. No car intake comes close to that. CIRT test report 2399905623, dated 19 July 2023.

The micro-pleat construction packs more media area into the standard housing, so it fits the factory airbox without modification. More on the media and how it works on the Schorl filter technology page.

After you fit it

After fitting, let the engine idle for about 30 minutes with the air conditioning running, either automatic climate control at 24°C or standard AC at fan speed two, so the ECU adapts to the new airflow. No remap or tuning is needed.

What owners report

Drivers report improved fuel efficiency, stronger throttle response and smoother running. Individual results vary with driving style, terrain, fuel quality and vehicle condition. Schorl is rated 4.9 from 57 Google reviews, and owners commonly fit them across every vehicle they own.

Designed and made in India

Built in Pune for Indian conditions: dust, heat, monsoon and traffic. Schorl technology has been recognised with more than ten technology awards and national media features. See the awards and media coverage.

Questions

Do I need an oiling kit?
No. Detergent and water only.

How often should I clean it?
Every 10,000 km, sooner in dusty or off-road use.

Will a washable filter protect my engine?
The media is independently tested at CIRT to 99.2% full-life filtration efficiency.

Is it a direct fit?
Yes, into the factory airbox, with no modification.

How long does it last?
Up to 1,00,000 km.

Does this air filter need an oiling kit or a cleaning kit?
No. No oiling kit, cleaning kit or recharge kit is required. Wash it with ordinary detergent and water, let it dry and refit it.

Do I have to oil this air filter after washing it?
No. It is a dry filter and is never oiled. Just wash, dry and refit.

How do I clean a washable air filter at home?
Soak it for about half an hour in water with a mild cloth-washing detergent, rinse under a running tap until the water runs clear, shake off the excess and let it dry completely. Air-dry or sun-dry it, or use a hair dryer on the cool setting with no heat. Then refit it.

Is this air filter washable and reusable?
Yes. One Schorl filter is washed and reused for up to 1,00,000 km, about ten washes. There is no replacement element to buy.

Will this air filter fit my vehicle?
Part number 130312002 fits the Tata Indica EV2 / V2 / Vista / Vista Tech / Xeta, Indigo / CS / eCS / Marina / XL, Ace. Check the Vehicle Fitment tab, or message us your model and year before ordering if you are unsure.

Is it better than the original paper air filter?
A paper filter is replaced at every service. The Schorl filter is washed and refitted, and lasts up to 1,00,000 km, with media tested at CIRT to 99.2% full-life filtration efficiency.

Does a performance air filter increase mileage and pickup?
Owners report better fuel efficiency, stronger throttle response and smoother running. Results vary with driving style, terrain, fuel quality and vehicle condition.

Why are imported performance air filters so expensive?
Aftermarket imported performance air filters carry import duty, which adds to their price, and most are oiled designs that need a separate cleaning and re-oiling kit after every wash. Schorl is designed and made 100% in India, so there is no import duty in the price. And because most Indian vehicle owners do not want to buy and use an oiling kit, the Schorl filter was built to need none: detergent and water only.

Can I install it myself?
It is a direct fit: it replaces the stock filter in the factory airbox the same way a paper filter is changed, with no modification.

Do I need an ECU remap after fitting a performance air filter?
No remap or tuning is needed. Let the engine idle for about 30 minutes after fitting, as described above, so it adapts to the new airflow.

Is cash on delivery available?
Yes. Cash on delivery is available, with free shipping across India.
